As part of artist Seth Price’s multifaceted installation entitled Folklore U.S., Price worked with Hamilton on a collection of seven lightweight garments that owe their inspiration to military tailoring. The raw cotton canvas material used references standard issue army garments while envelope-related details, like linings printed with security patterns found on the inside of business envelopes, give Price the opportunity to make correlations between clothing and the office supply – that both items are cut flat, folded over, sealed and, until used, an empty package. To kick off the pairing, and the art fest, the duo held a fashion presentation of the line, above, and below, a peek at the Hamilton-designed goods.
